For years now, Uganda has been experiencing episodes of violence perpetrated by the Lord Resistance Army. For this reason, since 2000 COOPI has been working in the country to support of women and children above anything else, in order to prevent sexual violence on the one hand and to combat malnutrition in mothers and children on the other.

Since 2006, we are here with child sponsorship. Now we manage 3 child sponsorship projects in one area of the country: Kampala. In this area we guarantee the right to education to children living on the outskirts of a slum, where limited access to water, high rates of unemployment and violence make their living conditions extremely harsh. In the same slum, we provide care for children who have been orphaned or abandoned because of their mental/physical disabilities or because they are HIV positive. All these projects are managed in partnership with local organisations.
