Set4food conference in Washington

 

On October 28 the conference of the project lead by COOPI.

 

On October 28 will take place the international conference "Sustainable Energy Technologies for Food Utilization" to present the project Set4Food. The aim of this project is to enhance the capacity of humanitarian operators in identification and develop new simple and sustainable technologies for food utilization in particular situation and conditions as refugee camps or informal settlements.

Set4Food, financed by the European Union, has as leading agency COOPI - Cooperazione internazionale while as partners Politecnico di Milano and Fondazione Politecnico di Milano. It has the purpose to fight the alimentary insecurity in emergency situations: the incapability to safely maintain and prepare food can cause serious health issues and great waste of resources. The main goal is to give adequate instruments, notions and technologies to beneficiaries, in order to make they able to handle food in a correct and healthy way even in difficult and precarious conditions with limited energies as evacuate civil camps are.

The conference in Washington will present the results of Set4Food in four different countries (Lebanon, Central African Republic, Somalia and Haiti) and a debate is scheduled between experts of the alimentation and humanitarian sectors on the topic "Access to energy in refugee/IDP camps and informal settlements" and "Energy technology for food preparation and conservation".

COOPI's coordinators of the program, experts from Policlinico di Milano and members of the European Union will be the guests of this initiative.
