COOPI believes strongly in child sponsorshipbecause
- it is a tool that allows to ensure the fundamental rights of children and to respond to their most pressing needs
- the activities are aimed at children but also at their families and the communities in which they live. It is therefore a global intervention aimed at improving the living conditions of the child and his/her context, promoting a long-term development
- it allows to carry out long-term projects thanks to the on-going support from the donor
- one of the objectives is to strengthen the local associations that work on the protection of the rights of the children and that are our partners in the implementation of the SAD projects
- it is a way to raise constantly awareness among supporters on the conditions of children in the South of the world and it is a tool to carry out intercultural projects and education for development
- it allows to retain donors and to rely on a large public willing to fund our projects
- it meets our criteria for transparency in that it allows the donor to constantly monitor all our interventions through the periodic updates that we send and, if the donor so wishes, to visit personally the project and meet the child that they are supporting.
Local partners are selected on the basis of their ability to meet the criteria for reliability, transparency and capacity to achieve the objectives, as well as for their knowledge of the context and culture in which the interventions are taking place.
The beneficiaries of our projects are among the most vulnerable children: orphans or abandoned children, children coming from families that are not able to raise them and provide for them, disabled children, children affected by HIV/AIDS or children at risk of abuse and violence.
