International Migrants' Day: in Ecuador for the Protection of children and adolescents in human mobility

On the occasion of International Migrants' Day, celebrated on December 18, COOPI-Cooperazione Internazionale in Ecuador and UNICEF strengthen their commitment to comprehensive protection and humanitarian assistance for children and adolescents in situation of human mobility. The project "Comprehensive Protection for Children and Adolescents and their Families in Human Mobility and Host Communities, with access to better WASH services in Ecuador" has become a fundamental pillar to ensure the safety and well-being of this vulnerable population.

Key Actions in the Humanitarian Corridor:

  1. Provision of Key Information: COOPI and UNICEF have established effective mechanisms to provide essential information to migrants, ensuring they are aware of their rights, available services, and safe routes.
  2. Facilitation of Safe Water: The initiative focuses on ensuring access to safe water, a vital resource, for people on the move. This includes the installation of water points and the strategic distribution of supplies to cover basic needs.
  3. Delivery of Specialized Supplies: COOPI, in collaboration with UNICEF, has implemented programs for the distribution of specialized supplies, such as hygiene kits and items for the care of children and infants, to ensure dignified and safe conditions.

Eric Samson, correspondent for Radio France Internationale, emphasizes the importance of these actions in his report "In Ecuador, the reception of Venezuelan migrants": https://rfi.my/A6XZ.

On this International Migrants' Day, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights of children and adolescents on the move, tirelessly working to build a safer and more dignified future for all.
