COOPI President Claudio Ceravolo appointed Commander of the Order of the Italian Republic

On the occasion of Republic Day and in the year in which Italy celebrates the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Republic, COOPI President Claudio Ceravolo was awarded the honour of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in Cremona, one of the highest honours conferred by the State upon citizens who have distinguished themselves through their civic and professional commitment.

A doctor, former mayor of Crema and long-standing advocate of development cooperation, Claudio Ceravolo received the honour for his long career in the service of communities – in Italy and abroad – and for his contribution to international solidarity through COOPI’s humanitarian work.

The ceremony took place on the evening of 1 June in Cremona, in the presence of the province’s civil and military authorities, as part of the celebrations dedicated to the Republic and the founding values of our democracy. It was a particularly significant occasion as it highlighted the deep connection between the principles enshrined in the Italian Constitution and the daily commitment of those who work to protect human dignity, fundamental rights and solidarity among peoples.

International cooperation is founded on the same values that inspire Italian Constitution: the recognition of every person’s dignity, the principle of equality, the rejection of war and the duty of solidarity. These are principles that COOPI translates into concrete action every day, working alongside communities affected by conflicts, humanitarian crises, natural disasters and poverty in over thirty countries around the world.

This recognition ideally belongs to all those people who, in Italy and in the countries where we operate, dedicate their work to building fairer and more inclusive societies.
