Malawi, Lifuwu farmers make their debut at the agribusiness fair

Lifuwu is located in Salima, central region of Malawi. Here COOPI is working to help farmers increase rice production and access to markets, thanks to a project funded for 3 years by the European Union.

Just to improve the access of Lifuwu Cooperative products into market, some farmers of them attended the 29th International Fair held in Blantyre City from 24 May to 3 June 2017, supported by a COOPI expert in agribusiness.

The fair is an annual event organized by the Malawian Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and attracts local and international exhibitors, especially from Tanzania, Kenya and Zimbabwe, in order to promote local products and producers and give them an opportunity to become acquainted with the international market.

The Lifuwu Cooperative had a good public response, succeeding in selling all the 960 kg of rice it had brought for the event, but above all by obtaining a good impression from Blantyre's buyers who appreciated the two quality of rice presented and they urged the opening of a store in the city.
