The Senegalese diaspora: a round table in Milan

"Vivre et réussir chez moi" - a Round Table on local development and territorialisation of migration policies in Senegal will be hosted in Milan.

For the occasion, on Saturday 20th July, 2019, at the C.I.Q. – Centro Internazionale di Quartiere (Cascina Casottello), 33 representatives of the Senegalese entrepreneurship and associations will be discussing economic opportunities within their communities and will share their experiences on the benefits of the diaspora for the economic development of the regions of Kaolack and Tambacounda in Senegal.

The participants will later be divided into 4 groups to discuss the role of local communities to facilitate investment in the diaspora context and how information systems can make investment support structures and local authorities interact.

The round table is the first event to promote the three-year project that will end in 2021, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the the Fund for charitable, social and cultural donations of Intesa Sanpaolo. The project intitled “Vivre et réussir chez moi - Local development and territorialisation of migration policies in Senegal” aims to promote local development in the regions of Kaolack and Tambacounda and to implement territorialized migration policies while respecting human rights and building a network of Senegalese, Italian and diaspora actors in the public and private sectors.
