What We Do

Preventing and answering gender violence through women's participation

The humanitarian situation in RCA remains critical. About 2,3 millions people need immediate humanitarian assistance, half of whom being children. Several cases of gender-based violence (GBV) occur daily: sexual assaults, child marriages, domestic violence and genital mutilations.

Women in families are typically excluded from decision-making processes concerning economy and resource management. To promote the integration and the participation of women and girls in the economic, social and political life in CAR and to reduce the diffusion of GBV, COOPI aims to increase  their knowledge and competences in matter of human rights and to facilitate their work opportunities, therefore promoting access to credit and savings.

The intervention also aims to reinforce the physical, organizational and technical capability of specific local structures female beneficiaries can establish sustainable partnerships with.  Lastly, women and girls will benefit from a proper community centre, conceived to increase their protection and their socio-economic empowerment.
